This safety improvement project (W-5704E) involves the widening of Covered Bridge Road (SR 1700) to 3-lane facility (east of SR 1003 – Buffalo Road to west of Helena Lane) in Clayton, North Carolina. The intent is to widen to a three-lane section along the length of the project, installing two new signals (one at the intersection with Castleberry Road, and one at the intersection with Archer Lodge Road) and modifying the signal at Buffalo Road. South Murphrey Road (SR 1703) is proposed to be realigned to line up with Archer Lodge Road to improve safety and traffic capacity. TGS provided turnkey design services on this safety improvement project.
